Transparency
Westspace Melbourne 19 October- 10 November 2012

Curated by Danny Lacy and presented with Gosia Wlodarczak; Transparency explored the potentiality inherent in different materials and their relationship with  the spatial implications of the gallery space. Hazewinkel resurfaced large  sections of the gallery walls with the delicately dimensional surface of Carbonundrum sandpaper. Into this darkened, finely sparkling space he installed  three objects. A framed screen print [printed on the same material],  a gilded leather hide, in the work Material Collision # 2 [mantle plume] 2012 , the sandpaper shifts to a horizontal plane functioning as both support surface and sculptural component of the work.
