Before the Age OF tHe Museum
Michael Bugelli Gallery Hobart

18 January – 31st March 2018

Hazewinkel’s solo exhibition Before The Age of the Museum explored the ongoing historiographic aspects of his practice by drawing together new photographs and site-specific installations, recent sculpture, digitally photo-mediated large format screen-prints and moving image works within the spatial and changing social contexts of the domestic interiors of the architecturally significant Ingle Hall - one of Australia’s first Georgian buildings. In response to 19th and 20th century archaeological practices, the  buried histories of the building and it's super-structural architecture, the exhibition continued subterraneously, occupying the building’s basements which were excavated by the artist and opened to the public for the first time.
