Four Ilfochrome photographs

100 x 100 cm

ED 3 + 1 AP

Originally presented alongside a 15 minute cinema scaled multi channel video projection titled What The Sea Never Told and a publication of the same name, these photographs take as a point of departure the 1892 drowning of fifteen young men in Port Phillip Bay. Experienced as a kind of embodied memorial to the loss of fifteen young lives, these works meditate on the force of the ocean reminding us of humanity's inescapable vulnerability while resonating with contemporary global concerns regarding hope, risk, longing and the loss of life at sea. What The Sea Never Told was commissioned by and presented at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery in 2018.
